Mackie is a Scottish knitwear maker founded in 1845, producing hats, scarves and gloves in our Ayrshire mill using natural fibres and techniques. We make everything under one roof to reduce waste, protect craft skills and ensure lasting quality.

What began with traditional Glengarry and Balmoral
bonnets has developed into a recognised mill producing hats, scarves, gloves
and other knitted accessories.

Alongside our own collections, we collaborate with heritage British brands to
develop and manufacture their knitwear. As a Woolmark licensee, a Sedex
member and an aligned partner of the Ethical Trading Initiative, we continue to
support responsible Scottish manufacturing and actively reduce our carbon
consumption as part of our commitment to Net Zero.
Mackie
Knitwear
We make knitwear with purpose and integrity. Each product begins in our Scottish mill and is shaped by the knowledge built here over many
generations.

We produce work that is considered and lasting.

Our values come from the act of making.

Natural fibres, careful construction and a commitment to local production guide our decisions.

Maintaining our manufacturing base in Scotland protects the skills that define us.

We uphold the standards we work by, from design to finishing.

Good design begins with purpose. When a product is made with care and precision, its character becomes clear.

We design and manufacture in a way that recognises the importance of both people and place.
